UNDER TV CUSTOM WOOD SHELVING – AURORA

Background

This client was looking for a shelf unit / rack to put under their TV which was mounted on a wall.  They wanted to hide their cable box, house their Sonos speaker and have shelves for other items.

We are happy to have earned the project and work is underway.

Inspiration

They were looking for a shelving unit that would blend into their current space.  We took design ques from their coffee table which had some barn board wrapped around the outside of it along with the color of the furniture and the old authentic wide plank flooring.

Our Materials

Structure: 3” x 1” metal tube for the spine

Shelves / Legs:  1-1/4” metal tube, cut and welded

Shelves:  barn board wood

Our Process

Structure

  1. 1” x 3” metal tube used as a spine to support the shelves and act as the back leg
  2. Shelves made using 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” metal tube welded to the spine creating 3 shelves.
    1. Top shelf to house the Sonos Speaker
    2. Middle and lower shelf to house various items
  3. Created a rack which hangs under the top shelf housing the cable box

Shelves

  1. Made using sourced barnboard color matched to current coffee table
  2. Lower and middle shelf have the barn board inset into the metal frame, while the top shelf sits on top of the metal frame
  3. Painted flat black to play off the barnboard color and texture, delivered and installed.

Install

  1. Probably the best compliment we have had, is their early 20 something son coming home from school and saying ‘that is cool’ .
